Why do you choose to send your puppies home with Breedsecure’s trial policies?

At Cowboy Up we are committed to raising happy, healthy puppies. We go to great lengths to do all that we can do to give our puppy families that confidence in having a healthy puppy. This includes health testing our breeding stock, vet checking our puppies prior to going to their new home, feeding a high quality dog food, offering an extensive health guarantee on every puppy as well as offering Breedsecure puppy insurance. We want our puppy families to feel confident that should a medical condition or emergency arrive they are not on their own. Breedsecure gives our puppy families as well as our puppies the security to know that they are taken care of and they don't have to worry about being able to provide a medical service for their pet they can't afford. We encourage our puppy families to keep their coverage going after their trail policy expires.

Can you tell us the story of how you began breeding?

We had a love for the breed, we were committed and we had the time and effort to devote. We had a burning desire to give it a try. We would have to say that when we first starting breeding 10 years ago we had no idea where our journey would lead. Today our dogs complete our lives and define who we are and what we are about! We owe so much to our dogs stretching from the people they have brought into our lives, to the life experiences they have created, to the love, compassion and appreciation we have for them. They have taught us so much and we have learned valuable lessons on many different spectrams. We are so very passionate about these dogs in our lives.

What makes you most proud of your breeding program/kennel?

We are truly so very proud of our dogs that we have raised and the great families that have adopted them. There is nothing more rewarding than the many, many phone calls, emails, pictures and visits we get from the families that have loved a Cowboy Up dog. When we see them thriving and adored by their family and the mutual love they give back there is no greater feeling of being a breeder.

What is your favourite thing about Labrador Retrievers?

We treasure Labradors for their amazing love everything temperament and their versatility. They have important jobs in the community. As a service dog they shine -whether that be a seeing eye dog, for a child with autism, diabetes detection, mobility dogs, seizure alert dogs and the list goes on. They are incredibly smart, trainable and adaptable with a rock solid temperament making them a prime candidate for the job. Labradors also are exceptional hunting and working dogs. Originally bred as a bird hunting dog they love to retrieve and love to swim making the job of a bird dog come naturally to them. As a working dog for search and rescue or drug detection the lab again is a star - easily trained, with a love for people and a strong nose that they like to use and natural hunting instincts they are great partners for those needing a canine partner at work. But by far their biggest accomplishment weather they are a dog with a job or not is that at the end of the day as a family dog and companion their are outstanding. You won't find a better family dog than a lab. They are gentle, faithful, affectionate and love people, especially children. With their happy-go-lucky attitude they are always up for a good time and eager to please.

This is one of my favorite pictures of one of our puppies showing the true qualities of a Labrador:

Do you have one adoption story that stands out as your most memorable?

I started looking at pictures that we have gotten through the years and tried to think of just one special adoption - and I can't. My heart is truly full of all the great people we have met along the way and the special dogs they have in their lives. Although there have been many puppies and many families there will always be special ones that we remember with fondness and have a strong connection to (puppy and human). I realize after writing this summary, without intending to this has really been a tribute to our dogs and our puppy families. We owe so much to them and who we are because of them. Thank you to everyone that has opened their hearts to a Cowboy Up puppy.
